CTC and ACU New Partnership

CTC SENATE ANNOUNCES A NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH AUSTRALIAN CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY

For some time, the Senate of CTC has been actively considering how best to assure the ongoing delivery of the College’s core mission in theological education and ministry training.

The changing landscape of higher education in Australia, the challenges faced by the sponsoring Dioceses and Religious Orders, the increasing pressures on theological education around the country, all call for a clear vision and sustainable plans for excellence in philosophy and theology in the future.

In light of these circumstances, and following extended investigation by the CTC Senate, the following steps have been announced:

  • The CTC Sponsors will enter a Memorandum of Understanding with the Australian Catholic University (‘ACU’) to develop a model of affiliation that incorporates the necessary governance, regulatory and operational structures to ensure the continuity of our core mission in theological education and ministry training;
  • Our collective aim is to seek an organisational alignment that combines the highly complementary capacities of both organisations to further enhance our excellent teaching and learning, world-recognised research, and contemporary learning resources and technologies;
  • CTC will continue its current operations in 2027 as usual, as the elements of the new alignment with ACU are developed and implemented across the transition period;
  • All enrolled students will be supported with regular information, professional and support services needed to assist them during the transition period.
    Importantly for all enrolled students: your program of studies will continue as usual through CTC in 2027. Your Course Advisor and Academic Dean will guide you through the options available to complete your current award or equivalent qualification in the years ahead.

This is a genuine opportunity to enhance the breadth, quality and sustainability of theological education and ministry training in Victoria and nationally, and to provide a stronger service for the Church’s educational needs and its mission in society.
