Conferences and Symposiums

Catholic Theological College runs conferences and symposiums. Past conferences include the 2024 Austin Cooper Symposium – Priest, Scholar & Friend, the 2022 Spirituality Conference: How Do We Know Christ Know?, and the 2021 National Pedagogy Conference.

Vatican II: Keeping the Windows Open

Joint Catholic Theological College/Yarra Theological Union symposium to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the close of Vatican II.

When: Wednesday 24 September 9.30am – 4.15pm

Location: Catholic Theological College, 278 Victoria Parade, East Melbourne

  • This symposium gathers experts from around Australia to reflect on the key themes of Vatican II that continue to shape the Church today.
  • The late Pope Francis emphasised the importance of synodality which no doubt will guide the leadership of Pope Leo XIV.

Austin Cooper OMI Priest, Scholar & Friend – A Symposium

When: Friday 10 May 2024: 10am – 4.30pm

This symposium was held in honour of the Rev Professor Austin Cooper OMI AM (1931 – 2023) founding Master of CTC, historian, formator, and ecumenical friend. The symposium featured speakers exploring Fr Austin’s various contributions to Christian scholarship and formation, and as spiritual friend to so many. Attendance was in person or via video-stream.
