What our students are saying

“My studies at CTC were both academically challenging and spiritually enriching. The supportive community of staff and students not only enhanced my research but also deepened my faith and strengthened my ministry.”
Rev. Thanh Van Tran
current MPhil candidate

“Through the years of my faith journey, finding CTC was the best gift that I could ever receive. I learned that our Catholic faith is deep in truth and wisdom, thanks to CTC’s amazing lecturers that have guided me through my studies. I am forever grateful. Grateful to meet so many theologians, brothers, sisters, priests and lay.
Thanks be to God.”

“My time at Catholic Theological College has invited me to investigate the early traditions of the Church and discover the depths of spirituality. The discussions in class (and in the Common Room) provide students with an invitation to learn, critique, discern and broaden one’s own thinking. The support of staff in the holistic development of students demonstrates a particularly compassionate and considerate approach to their operations. From the moment you walk into the Thomas Carr Centre, you are often greeted with a smile and welcomed by name — not many universities can offer you a personalised experience like that.”

“My experience of studying philosophy at CTC has been very positive and rewarding. If you want to “know yourself,” according to the Delphic maxim, then study philosophy – it will reveal how little you actually know, both about the world and about yourself! If you want your love kindled for the highest things, then study philosophy – it is not called the “love of wisdom” for nothing! Studying philosophy helps to order and synthesise one’s knowledge, and trains the mind to think rigorously, deeply, clearly and methodically. It develops critical thinking, interpretative and analytical skills, and the ability to engage and dialogue with others of different perspectives and vastly remote time periods. It lays an indispensable foundation for the theological enterprise. Having majored in philosophy at another University prior to my studies at CTC, I can testify to several things about philosophy at CTC that set it apart. Firstly, it is a real blessing to be taught philosophy by lecturers who are faithful Catholics and who by their personal example reveal how faith and reason can be integrated in today’s world. Secondly, there are many units of interest to a Catholic philosopher that are offered nowhere else – or if they are offered elsewhere, not with the same depth of engagement with the greatest minds of our Catholic philosophical heritage. Moreover, it is a boon to be able to complement one’s philosophical studies with units from such a wide variety of theological disciplines. Lastly, it is a very enriching experience to study with other committed Catholics, from diverse backgrounds, in a truly collegial culture; nothing compares with the CTC common room, besides perhaps the chapel.” 😉
